Church Celebrates the Love on February 13, 2010
There was definitely love in the air on Saturday at the annual Unity Church of Mississauga’s Valentine's Day Celebration of Love.
More than 50 church members along with several newcomers filled the room to help raise funds for the church’s band.
“We don’t have the equipment but we have the talent,” said event organizer Debbie Long. “This is just a way to help out.”
Unity Church volunteer Beryl Goveia said the dinner and live entertainment was a sold out event.
“We’re having a celebration of love,” said Goveia, who’s been a member of the church for the past 14 years. “It’s love between friends and parents.”
“Our church is not divided on a religious basis,” said Goveia. “What we like to do is encompass all religions, all views and all types of persons and just know that there is one god in all these places.”
In 2000, the church moved to its current location at 3075 Ridgeway Dr. in the Dundas Rd. and Winston Churchill Blvd. area.
Mississauga native Jacqueline Beckford said she supports the church because it’s her home for the heart.
“I would not go to any other church,” said Beckford, who has been a member of the church for more than 10 years.
